Bamboo & Engineered Timber Flooring

  • Bamboo & Engineered timber floors should be mopped with a well rung out damp mop only. Never subject bamboo or engineered floors to excessive moisture. Spills should be mopped up when they occur and any leaks must be attended to immediately. Excessive moisture will adversely affect the flooring.
  • Steam mops are not recommended on bamboo or engineered floors. This may void any manufacturer’s warranty. Also this may cause damage to certain types of coatings.
  • For regular cleaning of domestic floors an antistatic mop provides an effective means of collecting dust and grit.
  • If a vacuum is used, then the condition of the brushes should be regularly checked or we recommend purchasing a hard floor attachment.
  • Never use cleaning products containing silicon, oil, harsh chemicals or abrasives.
  • Apply felt pads to the base of all furniture to avoid excessive scratching.
  • Place mats at all entrances, externally, to collect dirt and grit.
  • On hot days, close window furnishings to minimize intense heat from UV exposure to your bamboo or engineered floors.
  • Rugs with rubber backing should never be used as resin will leach from the rubber and discolour or stain the applied coating.
  • Never slide or roll furniture or appliances across the floor as this may scratch the coating. Always lift and place heavy items.

Engineered Cork & Laminate flooring

  • A timber, cork or laminate floor should be mopped with a well rung out damp mop only. Never subject these floor coverings to excessive moisture. Spills should be mopped up when they occur and any leaks must be attended to immediately. Excessive moisture will adversely affect the flooring.

  • It is recommended that rugs are not laid until after the floor finish has fully hardened. Be aware that when rugs are removed from the floor at a later time, a shadow may be visible as a result of the coating absorbing UV light at a different rate to the covered area, partially with polyurethane coatings. (Not relevant to laminate flooring).
  • Rugs with rubber backing should never be used as resin can leach from the rubber and dis-colour or stain the applied coating.
  • Re-coating requirements are difficult to determine. As a general rule, coating should not be allowed to deteriorate to a level where it has worn away to bare timber or cork (not applicable to laminate flooring).
